Blog Post 3: My Dream Job

When I was in school I had in mind many careers to study in the future, such as political science, sociology, history, etc. But one of my dream always was to study dance professionally , despite the fact that my family had a hard time accepting it.

Since I was little I was in dance lessons where it became something beyond a hobby, otherwisee it became a priority in life.

In 2018 I started to study Dance at the University of Chile, which has been a dream, but also a challenge, since it is not easy physically nor psychologically. One of my favorite classes are undoubtedly those of creation, and those linked to history or aesthetics.

My dream job is undoubtedly linked to teaching dance, that is, being a dance teacher, since I will specialize in pedagogy. The idea of being able to teach to discover dance as a new language excites me very much. Helping children and adults to find themselves with their own body is my dream. That is why I would love to have my own academy that embraces exploration and creativity when dancing. On the other hand, I would love to link it with the history of art, since I love history and I consider that I have many skills to clearly teach this and dance itself. Being independent I consider it more difficult, but I also take it as a challenge to be able to invest capital and have my own place and salary.

When I get older I would love to be able to continue studying other branches of Dance itself, and also specialize from its historical, aesthetic and contextual vision with a degree.
